A barista serving coffee to Australia’s Olympians has been crowned MVP for giving our athlete’s a taste of home.
In the heart of the athletes’ village in Tokyo, Elliot Johnson is serving up the classic cuppa to more than 400 Aussie athletes and officials.
The Melbourne barista – dubbed the team’s secret weapon – is doing his bit to keep the athletes sustained.
“Everyone has been really really happy to have barista coffee in the village,” Johnson told 7NEWS.
“It’s like a little bit of home.”
Johnson has been kept busy with orders from Ash Barty, Patty Mills and the entire Water Polo team.
And while he doesn’t follow sport and didn’t know the athletes before he took the job, Johnson may just be one of the team’s most pivotal players.
“He’s the MVP of the team,” Australian rower Cameron Girdlestone said.
“I must say he’s keeping us all ready to go.”
