Coffee Shop Talk: The Blackhurst family

Coffee Shop Talk: The Blackhurst family

Being a barista at Espresso Milano for more than four years, I have gotten to know many of the regulars who come through. It has been neat to discover that some have been stopping by since the beginning.

This includes members of the Blackhurst family, who ventured out when Milano’s doors first opened in 1993.

“There were no other coffee shops,” Eric Blackhurst, of Midland, said. “Milano was edgy, cool and friendly. We were all learning how to order espresso coffee.”

Rachel Blackhurst, of Midland, Eric’s older daughter, recalls being there when she was just five with her brother, Joe, her sister, McKenna, and her parents. They would stop in together after church.
