How To Make Coffee Scrub Like An Absolute Pro On The Cheap

Hiya besties, and welcome to the exfoliation nation. You’ve arrived here due to your search for the most flawless way to make a coffee scrub, and I promise that you will leave here completely satisfied.

First things first, let’s understand one thing about coffee scrubs. Yes, they do work, and there’s pretty much no side effects to it except for clear, luscious skin. I know that sounds like a complete fantasy, but it’s true. Coffee scrubs are simply brill.

You need coffee scrub all year round, if you think about it. It’s definitely needed in winter, when the weather cools right down and means dry, flaky skin on your face and body. And then in summer, everyone knows a pre-fake tan coffee scrub is an absolute must to prep for your faux-sunkissed glow. Nothing screams “this tan is fake” than a bunch of it catching in your dry patches. The horror!

Today I’m gonna teach you how to make two different versions of one, because not every recipe suits every person. Find the one that’s right for you and shine, literally. Your skin is about to start glowing UP.

Why do a coffee scrub?

I’ll make this part short because you probably came here for the ‘how-to’ instead of the ‘why’.

Coffee scrubs have been proven to aid in the removal of dead skin cells, leaving smoother skin in its wake. Not only can you boost circulation in the area that you apply the scrub, but you can also rejuvenate the skin and leave it feeling fresh. There are heaps of benefits.

The texture of ground coffee makes for a really good exfoliant, be it on your face or body, and can also reduce the appearance of cellulite, and tighten the skin.

Just be cautious not to put it near your eyes, this is no eye-bag remover.

Coffee scrub recipe #1

This recipe will be using sugar and vanilla extract, and will leave you smelling like a tiramisu (which is a good thing — trust me, I’m Italian).

You’ll need:

  • 1 cup fresh ground coffee (dry ground works as well).
  • 1 cup brown sugar.
  • 1/2 cup melted organic coconut oil.
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract.

Steps:

  1. Mix the ground coffee with the brown sugar.
  2. Add the coconut oil and vanilla extract, then mix in well.
  3. Rub over body/eyes and leave on for roughly seven minutes.
  4. Rinse it off thoroughly.
  5. Store any leftover scrub in an airtight container or jar for future use.

Coffee scrub recipe #2

This recipe is a little different, as it uses salt and cinnamon, and is a bit more grainy, for a more intense kind of cleanse.

You’ll need:

  • 1 cup fresh ground coffee (dry ground works as well, but isn’t recommended for this recipe).
  • 1 cup salt.
  • 1/2 cup melted organic coconut oil.
  • 1/2 tablespoon cinnamon.

Steps:

  1. Mix the ground coffee with the salt.
  2. Add the coconut oil and cinnamon, then mix in well.
  3. Rub over body/eyes and leave on for roughly seven minutes.
  4. Rinse it off thoroughly.
  5. Store any leftover scrub in an airtight container or jar for future use.

And there you have it! You’re now a coffee scrub aficionado. And you don’t need to pay through the nose for a fancy branded one — though if you can’t be fucked making one, Frank Body and Lush both do excellent versions. But the beauty of a DIY job is you can just use the coffee grounds straight out of your machine, which is very sustainable and eco friendly.

I’ve even noticed some cafes pop their used coffee grounds out for people to take. To be honest, it’s usually marked “for compost” but in my opinion there’s absolutely no reason you can’t yoink one of these bags to use for your coffee scrub.

Kick it old school by whipping up a bunch pf scrubs, inviting your friends over for a movie night where you all watch some killer flicks on Netflix and DIY coffee scrub masks! Good, clean, wholesome fun.
