Eric LeGrand is already taking over the coffee business. Now he’s entering the craft beer world.
The inspirational former Rutgers player has teamed up with Bolero Snort Brewery in Carlstadt to create BULLIEVE, a coffee blonde ale made with LeGrand Coffee House’s signature Costa Rican beans that features a cartoon of LeGrand as a bull on the can. The beer will debut during a tailgate party on Thursday, Sept. 9 at the brewery during the NFL season opener between the Buccaneers and Cowboys.

The idea started with a visit to the brewery in the spring.
“We went to check it out, and the place was incredible,” LeGrand told NJ Advance Media. “We got to the tour, a bunch of beer tastings and at the end we had such a good time with the staff we were like, ‘Why don’t we come up with something together?’ And they thought it was a fantastic idea.”
The trial and error process began from there. LeGrand didn’t want a stout beer, but a smooth ale people can drink more than one without being full. After some experimentation, they landed on the combination of caramel and vienna malts, Willamette hops, notes of almond, hazelnut and honey and the coffee.
The beer will soon be available at restaurants and liquor stores that carry and serve Bolero products. The brewery is offering a pre-order for a collaboration package — you can order by following this link — that includes two four-packs, a 12-ounce bag of coffee beans and an exclusive limited edition print of the logo for $52. A portion of the proceeds from the package and all beer sales will go to the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation for spinal cord injury research.
LeGrand said his Woodbridge storefront is now expected to open in November due to pandemic-related construction delays. And, he said playfully, he wants everyone asking for K-Cups of his coffee to know he will tackle them after the store opens. But for now, he is focusing on his beer.
“I can’t wait for this event,” he said. “It’s going to be awesome.”
