Teachers, school staff can get free breakfast and coffee at McDonald’s this week

McDonald’s is thanking teachers and school staff for everything they do by giving them free breakfast all week long.

If educators and school staffers show a valid work ID, they can drive-thru or walk into any McDonald’s location and receive a free breakfast starting Monday, Oct. 11 through Friday, Oct. 15.

Although menus might vary by location, eligible teachers and school staff can choose to receive an Egg McMuffin, a Sausage Biscuit, or a Bacon, Egg, and Cheese Biscuit.

The meal also comes with a side of hash browns and a choice of a medium hot or iced coffee, iced tea, or soft drink.

The giveaway is the company’s “first big national thank you gesture” for teachers, Jennifer “JJ” Healan, the company’s vice president of marketing, brand content and engagement, told USA TODAY.

All “Thank You” meals will be packaged in a Happy Meal box, but instead of a toy, educators and staff will receive a thank you note.

“We wanted to build on that idea and thank our educators in our communities for all that they’ve been doing and what they do really every day,” Healan said.

McDonald’s came up with the program after hearing about teacher appreciation events at local restaurants. It is a follow-up to last year?s “Thank You” meals for first responders.
